Pioneer Day 2008

A cool native american!

President Monson

The last few years, Gaelynn and I have been attending the Days of 47 Parade with Tyler and his family and it's always alot of fun. This year Tyler decided to run the 10k so we were there bright and early at 5:30 am to stake out our spot and watch Tyler run by.

The kids were cute and made use of the time by making Peyton laugh and Garrett worked on his umbrella routine and playing with Spiderman and Kyndra dancing with her head dress.

The best part of the whole parade happened when President Thomas S Monson drove by and as he did, he was about 5 feet away from us, He looked right at Kyndra, pointed to her, waived and told her He loved her head dress. It was really special and She was on cloud nine.

Christmas in July..

By the amount of Christmas fabric out, you would think so. Here is the latest in my quilt obsession. If you stop in Material Girls in the near future, look up because it might just be there on the wall. They want to put it up but I am not real happy with the binding and not sure I want to display it for everyone to critique.
Do you like Kyle peeking over the top.....

I LOVE Oakcrest!!

more mutual...
Patches and Makayla
Makayla really wasnt a sleep, I just happened to get her with her eye shut.

Yep, This was our stake YW's week for Oakcrest and luckily with my calling, I got to go for mutual night on Thursday. We visited with the girls and then all met in the lodge for opening exercises for mutual. Once that was over, they sent us to various parts of the camp for our own stake mutual night.
President and Sister Cutler gave a great talk on being Steadfast and Immoveable and setting goals in their lives. As he was talking about the 5 goals he had for the girls, I couldnt help feeling a bit sad. I remember when I was in YW and those same goals were what I wanted and was working towards. Unfortunately two of the most important ones (I thought) have not happened yet. My PB tells me that I need to be patient that things will happen in the Lords time. He new he needed to tell me that because I am not a very patient person and don't like to wait for things. I will tell you though, I have had a real eye opener. Growing up, I just "assumed" all my goals would be achieved if I did everything I could. As I have gotten older and things have happened or not happened in my life, I have struggled with the whole "Why not me", or the "Why me". Patience is something I am trying to work on.

They both did a great job and I want any of the girls that may read my post to know that EVERYTHING you are taught in YW and you seek after will come to you if you live worthy and are patient. It just may not be in this life.

The pictures above are some of the girls from our ward and our AWESOME Bishop and his wife. What a great group of girls. I LOVE YOU all!!!

Ok, I have seriously been waiting for months now to see this movie and I was NOT dissapointed. My family knows I have been excited to see it and my sweet sister in law a few days ago said, "I'm not sure how to ask this, but what's the big deal". I just laughed and told her Ihave always been a huge ABBA music fan ( BTW, I grew up with my older siblings listening to it so that is where the love came from. I'm not THAT old. J/k)and have always wanted to see this musical but figured I would never get to NY so I was really excited when I heard they made a movie.

I was scheduled to take 1/2 a day off today to go up to Oakcrest and ride home with the girls but Jean told me yesterday that Sherrain and Lynda had volunteered to take our places. (***suckers***) they have no idea what they are getting themselves into. School buses and 35-40 very excited 13-14 year old girls and 100 degree weather. When I hear they were willing to do this for us, I decided I was still taking the afternoon off and went to Gateway to the movie.

I know people may not agree with me and hey, it's ok, but it is definitely a see again and then buy movie. The sound track is really good. Have I talked enough about this????

Oh, by the way, I am finished!! With what you might ask?! 14 lap quilts I have been making for the stake camp committee. They are far from perfect but I hope they will know they were done with love. If you read this and know anyone on the stake camp committee, sshhh!!! it is a secret!

I LOVE to quilt!!

Here's a few more quilts I have been busy making.

Infectious smiles!!

I read a news story earlier this week about how mothers can become addicted ( or something like it) to their childrens smile. Now, I am not a "Mother" but I do have lots of neices, nephews, and a great nephew who have infectious smiles. When they smile, you can't help but smile. Here are just a few smiles I am addicted to-

A long night with no sleep makes for a sleepy boy.
And another one

Scott and Tyler ran the Murray Fun Run!!

I LOVE the 4th! This is a day rich with traditions and honestly I wouldnt want it any other way. We begin by going to the Murray parade. This year was not the best parade they have had. It was full of political candidates and not much else.

After the parade, our family gets together again in the late afternoon and the kids swim and we have a BBQ. Later we go to the High School football field and watch the fireworks. It was fun but way too hot.

3 yr old version of Soccer

I went to the cutest soccer game this afternoon. My 3 yr old nephew Garrett is playing and it was so funny to watch him. .He was so excited to play and once he finally warmed up to playing with more than just his Dad and Kyndra, he got right in there. Here is a super cute video of them playing. He is #5 on the grey. Oh, don't forget to check out the two girls at the end on the red team. It's called "team soccer". Too Cute!!!

I miss Old Glory!!

Is it just me or does anyone else miss the massive flag which flew over the car lot up on State Street?!! I loved to look out my front window and see it blowing in the wind.
