It's all about navy and white and PJ's...

Here is a sample of what I spent my Saturday doing. I made this quilt and will get it off to the quilters next week. yeah!!

Also, why is it when you look your worst (okay, I have looked worse but sure wish I looked this good in lounge pants) and you have to run to the store do you ALWAYS run in to someone you know. Yep, I came home from the RS General Meeting (more on that later) and changed into my PJ's and remembered I needed to go to the store before tomorrow. I decided I would be quick and run in, grab what I needed and run out. I turn down one of the isles and right there is Linda, Sharon, and Carrie. uugghh!!!

Standards Night

Last night we had an awesome Stake Standards night. Back in January, we were able to schedule John Bytheway and what an awesome speaker he is.

We had the chapel and overflow FULL and it was great. He spoke on "Weeding your Brain" of the bad things that satan tends to fill the air around us with and plant and grow our testimonies. From the response of the youth, I think it was a hit and they all enjoyed themselves and the message he shared. It looks like he has a book out about what he spoke on and I will definitely be getting it. We might have even come up with a great Youth Conference theme for next year.

I don't do well with getting the pictures in order so I'm sorry they are mixed up.

What a beautiful part of the country!! When we got into Portland, we drove without too much trouble into the heart of the city and first hit the "famous" saturday market. It was like a hepatitis art show. Yuck!!

We hit the Cheesecake Factory for lunch and then on our way to see some sites, we happened to be in Lake Oswego and found the Temple. It is beautiful marble with the spires jetting up out of the pine trees. The funniest site was a wedding party getting pictures taken in front of the temple. You may ask why it is funny, well, the bride and all the brides maids were in strapless dresses. They had come in a stretch hummer to get pictures taken on the grounds. It was quite humorous.

After we hit the Temple, we went to the Pittock Mansion, Japenese Gardens and their famous Rose Garden which was all very pretty. The weather was absolutely beautiful and from what the reports said, that was out of the norm for this time.

That night we stayed in Portland at the Portland downtown waterfront and would recomend it .

We got up and headed for Salem which was an hour drive south. When we got to Salem, we met up with one of the Insurance Regulators which we wanted to meet and she offered to take us down to Lincoln City and Depoe Bay to the beach. It was absolutely beautiful. While we were in a little waterfront town called Depoe Bay, we went into this Whale watching museum and about died when the guy running the place was Morris Grover. Morris is married to Kim Clark's sister Cindy. When they lived here and their kids were young, I babysat for them a few times. small world!!

Any way, the 3 days were not long enough and only made me want to return. Maybe next year!!

Well, tomorrow I am off to Portland for a couple of days on business. Okay, so the business is really on Monday and the playing is tomorrow and Sunday. I've never been to Portland so it should be fun.

New York... Here I come!!!

It is official, I booked my flight today for New York. I am so excited to go and spend time with Wendy and her family. She is like a sister to me and her kids are an extension of my nieces and nephews and I can hardly wait. 8 weeks from today and counting.

Quirky me...

Ok, here goes- Kim C and Jillene both tagged me and I think I have narrowed down 6 quirky things about me that wouldnt be too embarrasing.

1- Even at 40, I am still afraid of lightning and Thunder. Always have and I'm sure, always will.

2- I have a thing with smells... I drive my family crazy because I can not stand the smell of ziplock bags. I have to get the Hefty ziploc ones because they don't smell. I smell my food before I eat it.

3- I am incredibly impulsive. So much so that my 2nd car, I had it bought before I had even test driven it. I saw it on the lot and got the loan and went in to buy it and the salesman said "do you want to test drive it first"? I said " Oh yeah, I guess I should". It was a white Isuzu Impulse. fitting huh!!

4- Ok, this one is weird I know but I have OCD and I sleep occassionally on top of my covers so I don't have to make my bed. Go ahead Buck and everyone else and LOL, you know you want to.

5- I don't really think this is quirky but I love to travel.. by myself. I don't mind when I have business trips because I love to go alone. I went to NY last year and spent a few days with a friend and then went to Boston for 5 days all by myself.

6- Michelle S and I have something in common.. Popcorn. I too LOVE popcorn.

There ya go, now you and the blogging world know my secrets.
