Janee Merrill-

It is really too bad that we don't really come to love and appreciate someone until they are gone. Janee was one of those people who showed love unconditionally and was a rock in the gospel. She knew her scriptures inside and out and can only hope to be like her someday. I had the opportunity to VT with her at one time and she was always excited to go to those less active or not active at all. She taught me alot about selfless love and her common phrase "its okay".
She is now doing in heaven what she loved to do on earth. Being a missionary!!
You endured your earthly journey well. The best part of the journey has just begun. Enjoy the Journey Janee!! We love and miss you-

I saw these cute vintage post cards on google and had to post them. Arent they cute??

Hy and goodbye!

My mom is the only girl and the youngest in her family with 3 brothers. Hyrum (Hy), Dewayne, and Ron. This past Friday, her oldest brother ( the one in the back with a flower on) Hy, died. This picture was actually taken at one of his grandaughters weddings which he said he wasnt going to attend but then later did... I'll just say he hasnt had the best of relationships with his children (not because they havent wanted to) and leave it at that.

My mom and dad and her brothers and their spouses have been getting together once a month for dinner for a few years now and unfortuantely, I have seen more of their dad than they have.
One day my niece Kyndra was here and my mom said said she was going to dinner with her brothers and she asked what their names were. My mom started to name them and after she said Hy, Kyndra got a look on her face and asked if she had one named goodbye!. My uncle got a kick out of that one.

I am so greatful to have a close relationship with my family. We thankfully all live in the valley and we see each other very often. Any of my siblings reading this, I want you to know I LOVE you and enjoy spending time with you.

Halloween party 2008

This was a Halloween Party to end all parties. Not so much because of what we did but because of one costume in particular. My cute nephew Kyle, ( I have lots of cute nephews) is so thoughtful. This year for Halloween, he wanted to be his cousin who is on a mission and will be home in 4 months. Jordan is this cute red head who always has a smile a mile wide.

Kyle and his family were late coming so when they got there and dressed and then walked in, I was sitting next to Louann and Scott was standing behind her. When he walked out, the look on her face was priceless. She had the shocked look and then began to cry. He really really does look like Jordan. After the initial shock wore off, she couldnt get around the table fast enough to give him a hug.
This is the real Jordan
This is the Jordan look alike (dyed hair and all)

Halloween's past...

In our family, we have a halloween party every year. Some years everyone including the adults have dressed up and other years, it is just the kids. I was looking thru some pictures and found a few from years past-

Our family party is on Friday the 25th. Stay tuned for more fun pictures. Have I mentioned lately this is my favorite time of the year.

That was some good GC.

General Conference was as usual, exceptional! However, there was one talk that I heard in my car on Saturday that hit me between the eyes. Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin. His talk was on adversity and that if handled correctly, it can be a blessing in our lives. He shared his mother's advice to "Come what may and love it." Adversity and sorrow are the kinds of experiences that stretch our understanding, build our character, and increase our compassion for others. He said that we need to trust in ourselves and each other, not blame others for our misfortunes, and to give our best effort in everything that we attempt.
He listed 4 ways to deal with our adversity:
Learn to laugh
Seek for the eternal
Understand the principle of compensation - " The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in his own way."
Put our trust in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ- if we do our part, Jesus will come to our aid and comfort and uphold us, strengthen us in our weakness, and fortify us in our distress - The simple secret is this:
Put your trust in the Lord, and do your best, and leave the rest to Him.

Can you believe it has already snowed??? I actually love the snow but not this early. I would totally love it to be fall until the day before Thanksgiving and then as if on queue, snow through December 31st and then stop and be spring. It can continue to snow in the mountains for all the normal months it does, just not in the valley. That's not too much to ask for is it!!

ARE WE DONE YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

la la la la la la la la la la la la!!! That is what I feel like screaming when the news starts in on the politics. I literally can not stand the rhetoric. It feels like this election has gone on for 2 years now and I am beyond ready for it to end. Okay, I have done my venting and now I am off to finish a couple of projects.

I'll post more later.

"You have two hands"

Ok, this is going to be a "had to be there" story to get the full effect but I can't help but tell it anyway.
Tonight while the men were gone to Priesthood session we had some of the grandkids and their moms here and my 3 year old nephew Garrett had gotten out the lincoln logs. When it was time to pick them up, Maleece was helping him (more like picking them all up) and she picked up one box of them and told Garrett to pick up the other one to go put them away. He immediately replies "you have two hands". It was pretty funny since it was such an immediate response.
