Quick update!

Update: Well, the Dr said it looks good. It looks pretty gross if you ask me. 15 stitches and a black and blue foot is not my idea of "looking good"
He did say I am still non weight bearing for 10 more days and that next week I can go back to work part time. He will take the stitches out on the 9th and then he will see about starting to walk on it. Maybe tomorrow I will post pictures of my cute skooter/knee walker that helps me get around.

Well, it has been 7 days since my surgery and so far, I am BORED!! Everything I guess, went well, the Dr called me the day after surgery and told me that he was able to sew up the tendon tear and removed a cyst (what??) that was on the tendon. He said that once he removed the cyst, he decided to do a cadaveric ( they use the muscles around the heart) graph around the tendon to help strengthen it. I go back to the DR this afternoon and hopefully he will take off some of this huge bandage I have on my leg. I still can't put any pressure on it for another week .

I'll post pictures later but right now, my foot hurts..

Last post

This will probably be my last post for a few days, or at least this week. I am having my ankle surgery this afternoon and I won't be able to put it down for a few days so sitting at a computer is out of the question. It should be interesting getting around since I will be non weight bearing for 2 weeks. Luckily I am off work that time and don't plan on leaving my house. I was trying to find one of those Knee walkers because crutches are not at all fun but I have a chair with wheels that I am going to try.

Easter top!

I finally finished the Easter quilt top I had started a few weeks ago. I couldnt quite decide on what to do for the sashing and the border and did it up with a wider white sashing and then denim border. I didnt like it so I unpicked the whole thing and started over.
I LOVE this one. Now to get it to the quilters...

This is just one of the many log cabin blocks my mother has been making for one of the grandkids for Christmas. I am working on a very easy log cabin block as well and as soon as I take a picture of it, I'll show you.
This one is for a friend that is having surgery this week and she commented on my blog one time before it was finished that she liked it. Now that it is quilted and bound. I hope she still likes it. She's a bit nervous for her surgery but I know she will be just fine.

Last night and tonight I went to see my nephew Kyle in his Junior High Schools play of Mulan. Last night they were having issues with the sound and it wasnt the best but tonight was fabulous. The kids sounded really good and the sound system worked great. He was Quin Po and he did a great job. He just naturally sings louder than others so when he had his speaking parts, they turned the mike up on him but when he sang, they turned it off. It was pretty funny because you could still hear him. There were quite a few kids from our Stake in the production or crew and they did a fantastic job. Way to go everyone. For a JHS production, it was great!

SPRING has sprung!

Happy 1st day of spring!! This is one of my favorite times of the year. Everything is new again and everyone seems happy.

Today is my Birthday and I've had a great day so far. My handsome Nephew Jordan came home from his mission to osorno Chile, I received a new quad from my family and they took me to Olive Garden for dinner. All in all, a wonderful day. Here are a few pictures of the airport.

My nieces, waiting...

Scott and LuAnn, more waiting...

FINALLY!! (My sister in-law is the one in green)

Aubri- not letting go.

Grandma getting her hug.

This picture brings tears to my eyes.

Craig and Lynette checked in for their flight to Hawaii and then came over to say hello.

We LOVE you Jordan, WELCOME HOME!!!

aint she cute!!

When I am back up and around, this is in my "pile" of quilts to make. I LOVE the panel and will be making a stop at my favorite quilt shop Material Girls to pick one up. I am in the Fat Quarter Shop charm pack club and this Mary Englebreight fabric is the one I will get this month. Yeah!!!

I have to apologize to my mother! I have always said I hate Opera singing and I still do to some extent. However, last night for our Relief Society Birthday Dinner they had Rachel Willis-Sorensen come and sing a song. All I can say is WOW!! It was beautiful, amazing, mesmerizing. She most recently won the Houston Metropolitan opera contest and will be singing there this year. She is from BYU and has made quite the name for herself. I actually wish she had sang more than one song. If you want to hear her, google her name and there is a you tube video of her.

Since after the 23rd I will be laid up for a couple of weeks, I plan on putting that time to good use. Here is a small picture of a Dress up quilt from Freda's Hive that I am getting stuff put together for. It is mostly applique and definitely something I can work on. These dresses remind me of some pictures my of my mom when she was younger.

Why Me???

Why is it always me that things happen to. I've been told many times that "if anything can go wrong, it will go wrong with shauna".. Like I ask for it!!! NOT!!!
I told you I have been in a boot for a couple of weeks already and after an MRI last week, I went back today to find out what it said. My Dr walked in and said he had some good news and some bad news. The good news was that he new what the problem was....the bad news being he can only fix it with surgery.

Apparently there are three tendons that run along the outside of your ankle with two of them behind the ankle bone. Those would be the Peraneol tendon and another I can't remember. Well, apparently some how I have torn both of them and they can only be repaired by going in and stitching them back together. My surgery is scheduled for March 23rd and I have to be off work for 10 days. I'll be on crutches for 2 weeks and then a boot for 4 more weeks and then probably PT.

I guess the good thing is that hopefully I can get this done and over with before Youth Conference and girls camp. I just hadnt planned on using 10 days of my precious vacation laid up. I guess I will get alot of appliqueing done.
