Summer Time!!

Wow, I can't believe it is going to be July soon. Not much to report on this end.. I have been working on my resume and trying to decide what I want to do.

People ask me what I am looking for and I really don't know. One of my friends reminded me today that I have been given a (hopefully) once in a life time chance to change the course of my career. Ever since I was a little girl, I always wanted to teach school. Things happened in my life which changed that path and I never made it. I can't help but wonder if I have been given another opportunity to acheive my dream. I have mixed emotions though since a few people I talk to say they wouldnt go into the teaching field again. what the...

This same friend gave me an option.. she is a Nurse Practioner and said if I took the 5 week course to get my CNA, she would hire me as her Medical Assistant which has benefits and I could do this while I go to school.

I have a great network of friends and Thank everyone for watching out for me.

I'm going to be a new Great Aunt!!

I forgot to mention that a couple of sundays ago, I found out my niece Nicole is going to have another baby. I am VERY excited for them and hope it is a girl. Their little boy Max who will be 2 in July is the most adorable looking blue eye, blonde haired part mexican you'll ever see. Congratulations Nicole and Taryn!! love ya

Youth Conference 2009!!

What a great ending to a horrible week. Friday and Saturday this past week was our stakes Youth Conference. Our Theme was "Are you ready? to be an example of the believers.

We started our day off with breakfast in the pavillion with a devotional afterwards. We had Brett Hales and David Osmond come and speak. They both have MS and talked about the struggles they have been thru and about the examples in their lives.
Of course David sang a few songs which was awesome and I think the kids really enjoyed it. I know the leaders did.

After the devotional we had rented out Fat Cats for them to bowl and have lunch. It was a great activity.
Saturday after Breakfast, we had workshops where they went to different "stores" in the mall and had someone speak to them.

Mind and Body Works= Sexual Purity by Brad Sanders

The Gab= Language by Jenna Metcalf

An Apostle= Dress by Jill Dickson

Sam B Goody= Media by Dennis Hummer.

They all did a fabulous job. After, the went to the "food court" aka the pavillion for lunch.

We then did our service project which was assembling hygeine kits. We had gathered money and supplies to do 613 kits. It was great to see how the stake came together and how excited the youth were to do this project.

We changed our clothes and did a road rally to a church by the temple where our Stake Pres spoke to the youth regarding "Decide Now" to be ready to enter the temple. We went back to the church, had dinner catered by Olive Garden and then our Testimony Meeting.

I LOVE my calling.. now on to Girls Camp in a few weeks.

UUUgghh!!

Well, by now most of my readers, knowI was laid off yesterday. Today is better than yesterday and I am sure tomorrow will be better than today but it really sucks!! I know it is a blessing in disguise because I am able to pay off some bills and really try and get my business up and going. I am more sad for my little bro who was also laid off because he has a family and the many friends I worked with.

I know that people probably wonder why I am not bitter and I have to say the past 13 years have been an amazing experence. I have learned so much and had so many opportunities that if I hadnt worked for BLIC I may not have had them... I also met my bestest friend there. They were more than fair in the end as well. I won't go into the details because I legally can't, but the severance was more than fair. A really nice side note is that since they are downsizing, they are letting us keep our computers and monitors and I get to keep my company laptop as well. WAY WAY NICE!!

I had no idea while the guy waiting outside the building was trying to get us to talk to him, they were also taking our pictures. This is what was on the front page of the MONEY section of the SL Tribune today. Not the most flattering picture of me but then what do you expect.

Some day I will share with you the story behind how I came to work at Beneficial. The Lord had a hand in it then and I know he has a hand in it now.

Life

Wow, I havent posted in like forever. Or a couple of weeks depending on how you look at it. I have been busy working on patterns, work, Youth Conference and just life.

I am kind of excited that by the end of the week I will have 3 new patterns ready to go and 3-4 more in the works. I am waiting on my last quilt to be quilted so I can get pictures for the cover. As soon as I have them done, I'll post snipits here and over on my pattern blog. I decided to change my pattern logo and like it mucho better. Simple!!
