It is time to do the happy dance... Yesterday Tyler (my little brother and the other family member that was laid off with me) got a job.
He actually started working for them today. Get this, when they called to offer him the job, they told him they wanted him to pray about it and call them back in the morning with his acceptance. Okay, I guess by now you figured out he is working for an LDS church affiliation. He is working for Deseret Trust Company and will get to put to use his BA in finance and accounting. We are all so proud of him and excited he got it. It has truly been an answer to alot of prayers.

I am at the end of week 1 of my new job with Deseret Mutual which is the benefit admin company for all the companies affiliated with the LDS church. So far I LOVE it. I feel inadequate right now as I am learning tons but if I can learn annuities and a complicated tax system at BLIC, I can learn this too.

ahhh..It is good to be employed again..

Guess who I met??

To some, it may not be a big deal but to me, I was thrilled.... I was working at material Girls this afternoon and Lori Holt came in. I helped her and she was very nice. She is an incredible pattern designer. Since I don't know how to do a link, here is her blog

A new day is dawning...

Well, the end of my 3 month vacation/ unemployment comes to an end tomorrow. In a way I am sad to see my freedom end but then I am very excited to have a steady income ( small but steady) again.
I have been meaning to write about this experience but it has taken me a while to really formulate my feelings. At first I was very sad and with each passing day felt more and more down but also realized I was to learn something from this. After all, it isnt everyone that is given a second chance. I truely think of this as a second chance and not just to get it right in the job field but to get other things right. This experience has allowed me to pay off some debt that was weighing on me and get a better start ( with a lot of help from my friends and family) on my business plans. I have had the opportunity to work the past couple of months at Material Girls and have realized all the time that goes into running a shop like that and have decided to keep mine small... at least for now. I figure I can still design patterns, make and sell bags and do custom orders for now. I feel blessed to have connections in various parts of the country and am excited to see what that leads to.
I know I have been given the opportunity to get out of some debt so I can go back to school and I am not going to let this opportunity pass me by even though it will be one class at a time.
Tomorrow starts a new era of my career as I start at Deseret Mutual. I miss my Beneficial family but thanks to Facebook, I can still keep in contact with many of them.
Onward and upward!!!

State Fair was anything but Fare..

Last night I went to the State Fair with Gaelynn, Tyler, LeeAnn and the kids. It started off pretty good, not too cold but not hot. It quickly went down hill from there. A storm blew in and it poured buckets. We saw all the animals and the exhibits in doors. I was really excited to see some of these quilt treasures

The end is drawing near.

Well, my (full time) unemployed days are about up and I am very excited. Now ask me in a few weeks when I am tired of working and I will probably say I am ready to be "free" again. I am just really thankful for my new job.

Some people have been asking if I will still be doing bags and the answer is "YES". I love doing them and since my new job is at 1/2 of what I use to be making, I can use the extra $$.

Here are a couple more that I have been making. The purse/bag will be $25.00 and has a magnetic closure and an inside pocket. Let me know if you are interested.

It's a crime I tell ya...

Why is it that people have to steal other peoples stuff??? Today in broad day light, my wallet was stolen out of my purse . I am floored as to how it happened since I had it behind the fabric cutting table and because it was a busy day, i spent most of the day back there. I work hard for the little money I am earning right now and for someone to take it from me makes me sooo mad.

I hope they just took the approx $25.00 i had in the wallet and ditched the rest in the garbage. I have had to cancel my debit card, put a stop pay on my checking account, place a fraud alert on my credit report, and tomorrow I get to see what I can do to get another drivers license, a new social security card ( yeah I know, stupid me had it in my wallet), call the IRS and find out how to get a replacement check for an uncashed check for a tax over payment which was in my wallet.
