It is hard to believe another Thanksgiving/ Gingerbread house building party has come and gone.  We had a great Thanksgiving this year with 26 people.  It is always good to get together with the family.

We hae a tradition of doing gingerbread houses the friday and saturday after Thanksgiving and everyone comes over.  Dana usually takes off the week and helps my mother make the houses which consisted of 30 houses this year.  A lot of work but so fun!!

Longing to be out east..

I dont know why but this time of year has me longing to be in New England.  Maybe it is the leaves changing but those little towns with a church steeple sticking out and just a few houses in the country are calling my name.  I have had the opportunity on a few occassions to go to New York at this time of year and visit my best friend that used to live there.  We went to a little town and picked apples.  soooo much fun!!
At Christmas time i want to climb into a Currier and Ives picture.  Wouldnt that be fun?!!!

something to remember

Love this saying..

Let go of expectations of what should be coming around the next corner and just get ready for what is or what might be. "You cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come...."

Thankful Thursday ( a couple days late)

I went to dinner this past Thursday night with some dear friends and had a great time. One of them was Desirae.  She has been thru so much this year and still has such a positive outlook.  She started on her blog a Thankful Thursday post and encouraged others to join.  So here goes-

I decidede my first Thankful post would be a list of all the things that come to mind that I am thankful for:

FAMILY- I have been blessed with an awesome family
FRIENDS- I have so many, I couldnt begin to name them.
THE GOSPEL- I would not be the person I am without my testimony.
MY CALLING- I LOVE working with the girls in our ward and seeing them grow.
WORK-I love my coworkers and bosses.  They are the best.
HEALTH- I have my issues but it could be so much worse.
DRY HEAT- give me 100 degrees with no humidity any day!

Just a couple of quilts I have made lately.

I am such a slacker!  I havent updated this since the end of March and It has been an interesting couple of months. April started off with a new calling as the YW president. I love the YW and am so excited to continue working with them.  The next thing hit me hard and fast.  Pneumonia! I started feeling not great on Thursday and  end up with Bronchitis 0n friday. By Monday, I had full blown Pneumonia and spent a week off work.

Coming 2 weeks early the next thing that happened was a beautiful new niece. Sydney!  She has had some breathing issues and anfter spending a week in the hospital, she finally went home but with oxygen.  She is so tiny but such a cutie.

My younger brother graduated with his MBA and we took the kids to see their daddy walk.  They were so proud of him.

In alot of ways, it has felt like an eternity since they started the City Creek Center project but really it has only been 5 yrs.  Several years ago, they tore down ZCMI mall and Croassroads and built a beautiful indoor/outdoor center in it's place.  Yes, it has many high end stores that i will probably never shop it is a great place.

If you dont want to hear/read about my sob story, stop reading now.

I am so sick and tired of my neck issues!!  I have been going to Physical Therapy twice a day for going on 3 weeks.  I do feel better but not great.  To top it off, this morning before PT my ring and index finger tips on both hands are numb and if I extend my neck back to look up,  I get tingly shock like feelings going down my limbs and backside.  What is up with that???  Here's hoping it is just part of the neck issue and will go away soon.

My sore neck

A week ago yesterday, I woke to a pull and then pop in my neck. Not a good think when you have Degenerative diisc Disease and have a metal plate and 8 screws in the neck. It bothered me that day and with every day since, it just got worse and worse to the point where I had severe pain in my neck going up into my head.  Early Wednesday morning I ended up in the ER in severe pain.  Luckily the plate and screws were still in place but I somehow managed to severely pull the muscles in my neck.  It is amazing how much you do with those muscles.  I have been off work this past week due to the pain and the fact I couldnt hold my head up which is kind of a problem when you work on a computer all day.  I have a wonderful and concerned boss who has been patient with me and allowed me to be gone. In all of this I have had 2 quilts to complete which have both had alot of applqueing.  Luckily the NY quilt was finished but the Dodger one was still requiring a ton of work.  My sweet mother took over it and finished the appliqueing and sewed it for me so I would be able to make my deadline.  Now I just need to get it to my quilter!!

Latest quilt

Here is the latest quilt I have been working on.  I have to say it took me the longest since each of the NY logos were machine appliqued.  All 32 of them!!!  I hope the lucky person I made this for loves it.
