So far this year hasn't shaped out to be a great one yet but there is still hope, it is still early. :)
In October I got the results of my recent MRI which showed a herniated disc in the c3-4 area and it had compressed the nerve and was causing lots of pain. The MRI also showed I had a mass on my thyroid that needed to be addressed. Needless to say, that day at the Dr was not a great day! He sent me from his office directly to my family Dr to have tests done on my Thyroid and then right over to my Nuerosurgeon to begin the review process and scheduling for surgery.
I had my 3rd neck surgery (and until they are all fused) unfortunately probably not my last on January 6th. Having surgery in January has both been a blessing and a curse. I have to be off work (complete disability) for 6 weeks so not a lot can be done. No sewing, no going outside which is a downer since it is cold etc... I am 4 weeks in and it hasn't been too bad.
In the middle of all this, in December, I met with a Dr regarding my Thyroid to see what we needed to do. After countless tests and scans my Dr gave me a couple of options. I could either do Surgery to take out the thyroid or try Radio Active Iodine first and kill off the nodule since I was already going to be having surgery and then do surgery later on my thyroid. Since the nodule had put me in hyperthyroidism losing hair should have been my first clue.
Now the RAI has put me way into Hypo! still losing the hair but the dr assured me it will stop. It better before I'm bald!
Now I get to hope that the medicine wont make me put on the weight I just spent all year working so hard to take off. I still have 50 more to go anyway!
